ED Treatment

Treatment Options

If you have erectile dysfunction, there are several effective treatment choices and a wide variety of options available that you can discuss with your urologist to find the best one for you. We will discuss the various treatments and answer any questions you may have about the benefits of each option, as well as side effects.

ED treatments include:

  • Oral medications - Medications work by increasing the blood flow to the penis so that a man can become aroused and erect when sexually stimulated. They are typically taken 30 to 60 minutes before sex.
  • Penile implants - A penile prosthesis, or penile implant, is a safe and effective medical device that is surgically implanted inside a man’s penis to restore sexual function and intimacy.
  • Vacuum devices - The vacuum erection device is a plastic cylinder that is placed over the penis, and a pump (manual or battery operated) creates vacuum suction within the cylinder.
  • eWave - Utilizes gentle high-frequency, low-intensity sound waves to stimulate the erectile tissue and improve blood flow in the penis so men can achieve natural, spontaneous erections.
  • Penile injections and intraurethral suppositories are other treatment options available to men.
  • Lifestyle changes- small, yet impactful, lifestyle changes may help improve ED.
